2022 Manning All Breeds Youth Camp
The 2022 Manning All Breeds Youth Camp was held at the Wingham Showgrounds in the first week of October.
Thirty-eight participants, ranging in age from 9-25 years old took part in the camp, which consisted of a fantastic variety of hands-on learning, mentoring sessions and fun activities.
The Youth Camp culminated in the All Breeds Youth Show - where each participant paraded their heifer in both age-appropriate showmanship classes, as well as their standard heifer age group classes.
The judge for the All Breeds Youth Show was Owen Daley, who took the time with each participant to provide practical tips they could apply to improve their parading - including awareness of where the judge is, position of the heifers' legs and feet and how to parade her comfortably throughout the class.
Holstein Australia are proud to have provided sponsorship for this important event, as well as having Marketing and Communications Coordinator Amanda Glossop attend as a mentor, speaking about Social Media and Marketing and providing coverage of the camp via the Australian Dairy Youth Facebook page.
Manning All Breeds Youth Camp organiser Karen Polson was overwhelmed by the response of the participants and sponsors alike and is already making plans for the return of the Manning All Breeds Youth Camp in the 2024 September school holidays.
Full coverage of the 2022 Manning All Breeds Youth camp, including interviews with mentors and participants, will be in the Summer issue of the Holstein Journal.
