2023 UK EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
ANDREW MCRAE
Holstein Australia are pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2023 UK Exchange is Andrew McRae, of East Gippsland, Victoria.
Andrew has been involved in dairying his whole life, having grown up on his parents farm, Gallrae Holsteins and is now developing his own stud under the Spike Genetics prefix.
With extensive experience in the industry both on farm and at shows, he will be an outstanding representative for both Holstein Australia and the Australian Dairy industry when he travels the UK this September.
The youth exchange between Australia and the UK is what many young Holstein breeders aspire to participate in and is one of Holstein Australia's biggest and best travel opportunities. The exchange is for around 4 weeks with learning, development, practical working on-farm, skills development, networking and sight-seeing in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
2019 uk exchange scholarship winner
Oakley Henry
As the winner of the 2019 UK Scholarship - Oakley Henry gained a wonderful insight into the dairying landscape in the United Kingdom.
His visit included shadowing NBDC classified Iwan Thomas and visiting the Genus ABS Conventional Labs and Genus Bull Stud which boasts some of the most famous bulls in the world.
Oakley was hosted by Knowlesmere Holsteins and the Whittaker family, who showcased a strong team at the Shropshire Holstein Calf Show - taking home Champion and Reserve Champion.
He also attended the South West Dairy Show, assisting Olly Reed and team at Beaconhill Holsteins; particularly enjoying the social aspect of the show experience.
