AUSSIE JUDGES TO FEATURE AT BORDERWAY UK & VWF

It has been a big week of judging announcements for young Australia judges, with Courtney Afford, Daniel Bacon, Lachlan Fry and Ben Govett each being announced at judge at major shows during International Dairy Week 2024!

The overjudge for the 2024 Victorian Winter Fair to be held in Bendigo in June, is Mr Lachlan Fry, from Master Breeder herd, Katandra Park Holsteins in Western Australia. Lachlan has vast judging experience, having overseen shows in every state, covering multiple breeds. 

Some of his 2023 achievements include the National Ayrshire Show at International Dairy Week, the Gippsland Jersey Fair and NSW State Holstein On Farm Challenge 

Very ably assisting Lachie, will be Ms Courtney Afford, of Billaview Genetics in South Australia. Courtney has been showing her whole life and since joining the Holstein Australia judging panel in 2023, has been actively judging throughout the country. This includes her role as the Associate Judge for the National Jersey Show at International Dairy Week 2023 under Mrs Kelli Cull and also judging Echuca Show and the 2024 Holstein Australia Youth Challenge.

Heading overseas now, Mr Daniel Bacon has been appointed as the Jersey, Red & White Holstein and Ayrshire judge for the Borderway UK Dairy Expo. Daniel, a Holstein Australia member under the 'Aspire' prefix, is more widely known for his family Jersey Master Breeder herd of Brookbora Jerseys from Tennyson, Victoria. 

He is no stranger to the show-ring, having judged shows and on-farm competitions in every state of Australia as well as the 2022 Holstein Show for the New Zealand Agricultural Show and 2023 Jersery Show at the New Zealand Dairy Event. 

Dan's great mate and fellow respected breeder and showman, Mr Ben Govett of Tandarra Genetics, North West Victoria, has been appointed the Holstein, Brown Swiss and Dairy Shorthorn judge for the 2024 Borderway UK Dairy Expo. 

Govett - arguably the countries top Brown Swiss breeder, had judged at every Royal Show in Australia and also in New Zealand and the Victorian Winter Fair.
