Byrne Lea Dispersal grosses nearly $850,000
The Byrne Lea Holstein Dairy Dispersal held at Mortlake Selling Centre on Wednesday 24th of March saw Craig and Fiona Fisher of Drumborg pull in a gross of $846,200.
The celebrated Avonlea Jacobonia family featured strongly with Lot 142 Byrne Lea Bradnick Jacobonia EX90 topping the sale at $14,250.
She sold to buyers Ben and Angela Tweddle of Glencoe in SA who also bought Byrne Lea Dealmaker Jaco; the daughter of Aftershock Jacobonia EX90 for $6,000.
Local Breeder Tim Fleming took home the in-calf Byrne Lea Alonzo Ding; the granddaughter of a two-time Intermediate IDW Champion for $10,000. She is due in mid-April to Bradnick.
The sale attracted bulk buyers including Hilltop Dairies at Victor Harbor, SA. They purchased 61 head including autumn calving young cows for an average of $3,150 and 28 young cows and heifers due in April.
The McDonald family from Orbost also bought in bulk, selecting 46 head that were mainly spring-calvers at a $2,444 average via livestream.
The 287 head sold across Victoria, South West Riverina and South Australia averaging $2,958.
165 registered Holstein cows and heifers averaged $3,201 whilst 44 spring-calving and unjoined heifers averaged $2,601 and 78 commercial cows both autumn and spring-calvers averaged $2,617.
