Eagle Ridge Holsteins tops $7,250
The Eagle Ridge Complete Heifer Dispersal Sale of Master Breeders Russell and Kerry Eagle topped at $7,250 last week with many interested breeders bidding online from across the country.
The sale was held at the Koonwarra South Gippsland Selling Centre and featured 40 Holstein heifers, calved and in-calf, all due in October to sexed AI.
World class maternal lines were offered as well as many lots tested A2A2, dams classified to EX91 and dams producing up to 14,036 litres, 426 kgs protein and 616 kgs fat.
Topping the sale at $7,250 was the in-milk heifer Eagle Ridge Envious Tiffany; a descendant of Eagle Ridge Goldsun S Tiffany EX90 with records to 500 kgs fat. She was bought by return buyer MW Adams of Stony Creek who also selected Eagle Ridge Jacoby Sky Julie who is in-calf to King Doc for $6,000. Mr Adams also took home a top young milking heifer Eagle Ridge Goldsun L Paula who is backed by several generations of 12,000 litre dams. She sold to Mr Adams for $5,000.
The second highest seller was Eagle Ridge Lambda By Pollyanna; she is a heifer backed by an exceptionally high fat percentage who went under the hammer at $7,000. She sold to Inlet View Dairy who additionally selected the $6,500 red heifer Eagle Ridge Devour F Polka-Red who is due to Unstopabull-Red.
The well known Tomargo Recluse herd of S and E Chesworth of Dubbo NSW snapped up Eagle Ridge Doc GC Pollyanna who comes from a 539 kg fat Gold Chip dam. She sold to the Chesworths for $6,500 along with Eagle Ridge Denver Bro Polly for $5,250 whose 4 direct dams average 487 kgs fat.
Eagle Ridge Rambo AMZ Pollyanna; a daughter of the 2019 Victorian Winter Fair Champion Eagle Ridge Amazing G Pollyanna EX91 sold to NSW Breeder S Whatman of Goolagong for $5,750.
K and H Jones of Foster returned to the Eagle Ridge sale for the classy heifer Eagle Ridge Callen A Hanna who sold for $5,500.
During the sale there were many online bidders and the 40 Eagle Ridge Holsteins on offer achieved an overall average of $4,271.
