Eagle Ridge sale tops $12,000
The Eagle Ridge Holstein Heifer Dispersal Sale from Victorian Master Breeders Russell and Kerry Eagle of Shepparton topped $12,000 last week at the Shepparton Selling Centre, with the 82 lots grossing $338,500 reports agent Dairy Livestock Services.
The complete dispersal of autumn calving heifers featured 90 production-backed Holsteins including 78 autumn calving heifers, 6 red Holsteins and 10 tremendous calved and close young cows.
The sale topper was the outstanding red heifer Eagle Ridge Ammo C Polka; daughter of the EX93 red cow Contender L Polka with over 600 kgs fat.
She sold due to sexed Unstopabull-Red to K & H Jones of Foster who have been consistent buyers of Eagle Ridge cows.
The Jones’ also selected the clever heifer Eagle Ridge Undenied O Polly for $7,250; she is due to sexed King Doc and is from a High Octane dam that is already in the Jones herd. The same buyers also purchased Eagle Ridge Ammo GWA Polka for $5,500.
The second highest sale went for $9,000 for the stylish heifer Eagle Ridge Crush FY Tiffany at $9,000, backed by the Royal Show-winning Tiffany family. She sold to Luccombe Holsteins of Finley, NSW who already own her VG Fever dam. These buyers also snapped up Eagle Ridge Chill A Pollyanna for $5,500. She is a grand-daughter of the EX, 2E Blitz Pauline cow at $5,500.
Buyers D & J Custance of Nyora returned to purchase three cows due to sexed red sires. Among their selections were quality red heifers Eagle Ridge Unstopabull D Polka for $7,000, Eagle Ridge Devour M Julie for $5,500 and Eagle Ridge Unstopabull C Polka for $5,000.
Eagle Ridge Devour AC Polka sold to steady South Gippsland buyer M Adams of Stoney Creek for $5,500 along with Eagle Ridge Baird AS Tiffany, Eagle Ridge Goldsun San Polly and Eagle Ridge Bankroll L Paula all for $5,000 each.
The very correct Eagle Ridge Undenied O Pauline due to sexed King Doc sold to NSW buyer Kit Davidson of Finley for $5,000.
