East Gippsland All Breeds Spectacular
Dairy enthusiast welcomed the opportunity to get back in the show ring at the East Gippsland All Breeds Spectacular, held at Sale Showgrounds last week.
Fifty spectators watched Jane Sieben (Brindabella, North West Vic) judge 40 head entered in the show.
Majestic Pharo Diamond was crowned All Australian Calf, led by Lily Bawden and exhibited by the Bawden Family who accumulated many placings throughout the day.
Philmar MBH Oliver Sahara, exhibited by Flemming and Heath, Marty and Brady Hore was crowned Junior Champion and earlier won the Heifer 18 months born 01-0-20 to 31-06-20.
Reserve Junior Champion was Winwood Mirrand Gucci-p, exhibited by Mal Nikora and Kelly Bleijendaal.
Q-Bee Oliver Gin P was awarded Intermediate Champion, exhibited by Andrew McRea and Rebekah Love and Reserve Intermediate Champion was Wilara Kade Tessa-Exhibited by Wilara Holsteins.
Magic Park Shady Maiden took out the Senior Champion Cow title, exhibited by Munden Farms and Wilara Jodallion jul, exhibited by Wilara Holsteins won Reserve Senior Champion.
Show Organiser, Andrea Henry said there are many young kids within the sub-branch and the schedule was adapted to get the youths involved.
She said “there were heaps of kids there and it’s one of the reasons we wanted to get the show up and running”.
Taking out first place in the Handlers 16 and over class was Madison Kenzie, followed by Gianna Ziero who came second.
Lily Bawden placed first in the Handlers 12 to 15 and Scarlett Bawden won the 10 to 12 years class.
Alana Van Rensberg came first in the under 10 and over 5, with Emily Miller placing second and all participants in the under 5 class were awarded with medals.
Andrea said it was a great atmosphere with everyone enjoying the show experience after numerous cancellations over the past 18 months due to Covid-19 restrictions.
She said after the cancelation of the Sale Show, many breeders in the area were left disappointed and after the announcement, the Sale Show Committee offered their facilities and support to East Gippsland to run the inaugural show.
Show Organiser and Sale Show Dairy Steward Justin Johnston said “it was great to see people were keen to attend and we’re really happy that members from three different sub-branches made the effort to travel to the show”.
