The highly successful Elmar Holstein stud of Steve and Deanne Hore and family, staged another on-farm sale for buyers throughout Australia and overseas on Wednesday, 18th May 2022.
Selling Agents Dairy Livestock Services reported buyers from throughout Victoria & New South Wales, along with Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia in addition to international buyers from the USA & Pakistan. Totaling 72 lots, a strong line up of top quality in-milk cows, joined and unjoined heifers and embryo packages, averaged $6,086.
Leading the way was Elmar Chief Jessica 4697, an unjoined yearling daughter of Australian Cow of the Year and IDW Grand Champion – Elmar Goldwyn Jessica 11 EX93; who was purchased by the Lightning Ridge & F & D Borba, USA partnership. Her full ET sister, Elmar Chief Jessica 4773 went to Ben Govett of Dingee, Victoria for $14,000.
Attracting the second highest bid was Elmar Chief Jessica 4818, a ten month old heifer backed by 8 generations of Star Brood Cows, selling to Luccombe Holsteins of Finley, NSW. They also took home her maternal sister, Elmar Arrow Jessica 4870 for $8,000.
Peter Fullerton of Daybreaker Holsteins, paid the equal third highest price of $14,000 for Elmar Mirand Serenade 4442 - Poll VG86 (1st lact), as well as five year old Elmar Delta Jessica VG 87 for $9,000.
Jaguar Holsteins of Camperdown, Victoria paid $12,000 for Elmar Chief Jessica 4812, another super smart calf from Elmar Aftershock Jessica VG85. The long established Ingolston stud purchased Elmar Mirand Christina 4470 – Poll, a correct uddered 2 year old, for $10,000.
Elmar Solomon Jessica 8 VG88 was selected by the Randall family of Koondrook, Victoria for $9,000 while Elmar Jagger Jessica 4919, a 6 month old heifer from Elmar Crush Jessica 3 VG88, sold to J Stewart of Pyramid Hill, Victoria.
Elmar Dylan Jessica 4982 became the first Dylan daughter to sell in Australia, being purchased by K, T & J Walters of Tasmania at $8,500. Other notable purchases include Elmar Arrow Jessica 4815 at $8,000 to A & C Coombes of Long Flat, NSW and Elmar Chief Jessica 4851 to Nundah Holsteins, of Singleton, NSW for $8,000.
