Holstein Australia Service Price Update July 2024
Holstein Australia has announced its first service price increase in five years. This decision, aimed at sustaining the quality and range of services provided to members, reflects the evolving economic landscape and the organisation’s commitment to maintaining high standards in breed development and member support.
Background and Rationale
Since 2018, Holstein Australia has successfully maintained stable service prices, ensuring that members could access vital services without the burden of cost increases. However, the cumulative effects of inflation, rising operational costs, and the need to invest in new technologies and services have necessitated this price adjustment.
The decision was made after thorough deliberation by the Board, considering feedback from members, financial analyses, and projections for future needs. The primary goal is to ensure that the Association continues to offer top-tier services that meet the evolving needs of members and the dairy industry.
Key Areas of Impact
The price increase will affect several key services, including:
- Registration Fees: Adjustments to the cost of registering animals, which supports the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive herd records.
- Classification Services: Updated fees for classification services that help maintain breed standards and improve herd quality.
Despite the rise in some core service prices, Holstein Australia is committed to delivering increased value to its members.
- A new bulk registration offering for registering over 200 animals in any one financial year provides a 50% discount against the current rate.
- While the cost for registering animals 12 months and under has increased by 10%, the cost for registering animals over 24 months has decreased by 21%.
- Classification fees for registering over 51 or more animals at one time have been maintained at the current level.
