Meet Our New Classifier!
Meet our new Classifier!
A familiar face is joining our classification team! Rob Marshall is the most recent addition to our staff and we would like you to join us in welcoming him to Holstein Australia.
Some of you may recognise his name. Not only has Rob been a farmer himself, he also served as President of the Northern Victoria Sub-Branch between 2016 to 2018 and has actively been involved in the dairy industry since he was a kid.
Rob has spent 17 years dairy farming in Northern Victoria, NSW and Tasmania, with breeding experience across both small and large commercial herds.
If you’ve been an active member in Victoria for a few years, you may know Rob from the Semex Holstein Australia On-Farm Competition. He had 2 winners in his local Northern Victoria Sub-Branch competition in 2008 and went on to win second place at state level with his 3-year-old heifer.
“In my time of breeding cattle, I’ve bred 4 generations EX out of one heifer. The cow we sold was the daughter of our 4th generation and she topped our sale" says Rob.
Originally from Edendale, a farming town in the Southland region of New Zealand, Rob migrated to Australia in 1997 and hasn’t looked back.
“I started milking cows in New Zealand when I was 12. The first time I milked the cows, I absolutely loved it and when I was 19, I bought my first registered calf. Since then, my passion is all to do with registered cattle and I haven’t missed a Dairy Week since 1998.” – Rob Marshall
Currently Rob is out in the field training with and shadowing our Classification team, making the rounds to some of our members. If you haven’t met Rob yet, it won’t be long before he’s on the road and at member farm gates.
