Murribrook 3rd Stage Dispersal tops $21,000
Murribrook Sidekick Verbena sold for $20,000
The long established Murribrook herd of Murray Sowter held its 3rd stage dispersal on farm at Birubi in Wagga Wagga on Wednesday, 13th July 2022.
Boasting a combination of young cows with production to 13,000 litres and progeny of International Dairy Week and Sydney Royal Champions, there were plenty of high quality lots on offer. Buyers from all parts of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia bid on the 104 registered Holsteins up for grabs, achieving an average sale of $6,980.
Topping the sale at $21,000 was Murribrook Sidekick Cassie. From a former Sydney Royal Junior Champion, she sold in calf to Brayden –Poll to AF Garratty P/L of Bolong, NSW. The same buyer also selected Murribrook Crushabull Poppy from the noted Peggy family for $16,000.
Murribrook Sidekick Verbena was the second top priced heifer at $20,000, joining her dam Murribrook Goldwyn Verbena EX92-2E at Hightop Holsteins in Congupna, Victoria. Her maternal sister, Murribrook Unix Verbena, sold to K & H Jones of Foster, Victoria for $13,000.
Also selling at $20,000, was Murribrook Kingdoc Reba, a class heifer from Murribrook Windbrook Reba EX92, purchased by Hallyburton Farms of Cobden, Victoria.
It was Murribrook Sidekick Lauren, from the famous Lila Z family, who caught the eye of the crowd, selling for $18,000 to B Glass of Gundowring, Victoria. Murribrook Goldwyn Cabernet VG88, a 7 year old cow boasting 6 generations of VG and EX in her maternal line, sold at $15,000 to D Latham of Comboyne, NSW.
Other noted sales included Murribrook Atwood Chloe, daughter of Murribrook Diamond Chloe VG89 (max) at $12,000 to P & C Castle of Allansford, Victoria, while Eloora Pastoral Co of Blighty, NSW took home Murribrook Sidekick Coco for $12,000.
Murribrook Kingdoc Rochelle, a super uddered freshly calved heifer backed by 11 generations of VG or EX, now calls Gorbro Holsteins in Cohuna, Victoria, home, with Murribrook Doorman Tilly, a 2 year old from Murribrook Goldwyn Tango EX93-1E going to Westmuir Holsteins for $10,000.
