Murribrook tops $23,000
The 9-year-old show champion Murribrook Goldwyn Verbena, EX 93 has topped the Murribrook First Stage Milking Herd Dispersal on the 7th of October for a whopping $23,000.
The much anticipated on farm sale held at Moss Vale, NSW attracted a large crowd and additionally 500 online viewers attended through Elite Livestock Auctions. Many spectators commented ‘it’s the finest herd of cows we’ve ever seen sold’.
The twenty-three-thousand-dollar sale topper Murribrook Goldwyn Verbena, EX 93, due to sexed Kingdoc, produced 1,058 kgs milk solids and was purchased by Hightop Holsteins of Congupna, Vic, who also bought the outstanding 4-year-old Murribrook Doorman Coco, VG 88, for $19,000 bred from the Candace family.
The second highest seller Murribrook Diamond Vera, VG 87 on her 1st lactation sold for $22,000. This magnificent young cow is one of several tremendous daughters of the top selling cow, Verbena and was bought by Partnership of Lightning Ridge, C Moscript, Acuity Cows and T Smethurst of Gippsland, Victoria.
Murribrook Diamond Vetta, VG85, the granddaughter of Verbena took out the third highest sale at $21,000; purchased by Lightning Ridge, C Moscript and B Salmon.
Long established Gippsland Breeders L & L Calder snapped up VG 88 milking heifer Murribrook Diamond Chloe; the daughter of the EX 93, IDW Champion Goldwyn Candace for $18,000.
Eloora Past Co of Deniliquin, NSW selected VG 86 milking heifer Murribrook Atwood Chanel at $17,000 along with Murribrook Diamond Vanity; a very smart and close to calving heifer for $11,000.
Large Gippsland Dairy Farmers Kevin and Helen Jones paid $16,000 for Murribrook Doorman Lana, EX 90. They also purchased Murribrook Brokaw Lola, EX 92 who completes 3 of 4 generations of EX for $13,000 and Murribrook Brawler Lola, EX 91 for $10,000; all three heifers came from the successful Skychief Lola maternal line. Gippsland also took home the Red Holstein Murribrook Redburst Sunsparkle, VG 88, bred from the World famous Scarlet family, selling at $15,500 to the Staley Family of Yarram, Vic.
Lightning Ridge and Westmuir Holsteins teamed up to buy the VG 87 heifer, Murribrook Solomon Robina; the daughter of IDW Intermediate Champion Talent Robina for $13,000.
Col Cowan of Hannam Vale, NSW picked the 2018 Sydney Royal Junior Champion Murribrook Doorman Lauren (Imp.ET) VG 88 for $14,000.
Western Victorian Breeders Bryan and Jo Dickson purchased Murribrook Doorman Villa; the daughter of Verbena, EX 93 for $12,000.
Paul Timbs of Jaspers Brush, NSW paid $11,000 for Murribrook Sanchez Miss, VG85 on her 1st lactation while another local, Jim Strong of Albion Park paid $10,000 for the classy milking heifer Murribrook Diamond Velvet; daughter of a former Sydney Royal Junior Champion.
The long established Glenalbas herd of Alan Garratty paid $10,000 for the show champion Murribrook Brokaw Rae, EX90, bred from the Roxy family.
Well known Victorian Breeder Ben Govett paid $10,000 for a beautiful uddered heifer, Murribrook Unix Candace, along with close-to-calving heifer Murribrook Doorman Ivy, who is the daughter of the Sydney Royal Champion Atwood Ivy also at $10,000.
Murribrook Goldwyn Chardonnay (Imp.ET) VG 87 sold at $12,000 was the very last cow of the sale and went to Somerelle Holsteins of Northern Victoria.
The sale was extremely successful as many heifers were bought for a premium price which contributed to an average sale of $6,340.
