Guidelines on nomination, selection, decision and recipient benefit of the award
The BDCC recommended to the Board that a member’s meritorious service award is created to recognise outstanding service to the Association and that the award is known as the Holstein Australia Distinguished Service Award.
Purpose & recognition
The Distinguished Service Award (DSA) shall be awarded to members who have given extraordinary service to Holstein Australia over an extended period. The award is recognition for sustained commitment to the Association, both within and beyond the member’s elected or designated roles and responsibilities.
Nominations
Nominations for the award can be initiated by any member of the Association on the prescribed form.
A nomination can be initiated by any sub-branch or state branch and referred to the Federal Board for final decision. A maximum of 3 awards will be awarded each year.
Nominations should include the reasons why the member is considered worthy of receiving the DSA including meeting the criteria suggested in these guidelines.
Members who have received a Federal Life Membership may not be nominated.
Nominations are to be received by the CEO no later than 2 months prior to the Annual Federal AGM & Awards night.
Selection criteria
Nominations must meet the following criteria:
- Sustained participation in Association administration at sub branch and state level
- Demonstrated Holstein Australia’s values:
- Operate with high ethical standards, including integrity and credibility.
- Maintain an independent, member focused position and views.
- Promotion of the breed
Nominations should meet at least 2 of the following additional criteria:
- Helping, assisting and mentoring fellow members (& non-members) who share an interest in the breed without expectation of reward,
- Demonstrate leadership qualities which inspire enthusiasm among HA members, particularly youth members,
- Provide ideas for the future direction of the Association and how those ideas can be implemented to contribute to the development of the Association,
- Contribute to the wider Association by involvement in activities beyond the level of responsibilities normally expected in any position held.
Decision & presentation
The Federal Board has the final decision. No personal approaches or presentations will be called for and there is no process of appeal.
The DSA(s) will be presented at the annual AGM and National Awards event.
Recipient Benefit
The recipient shall receive an engraved plaque.
