Quality Ridge Holsteins top $12,000
Young Northern Victorian Holstein Breeders, Bec & Jayke Fisher’s Quality Dispersal Sale, saw keen buyers both on-farm and on the Elite Livestock Auctions online platform, topping their sale at $12,000.
The ultra-dairy-like young cow Quality Ridge Windbrook Bonnie (imp.ET.Can), the 5-year-old daughter of legendary Canadian-Australian bred cow Fraeland Goldwyn Bonnie EX95, topped the sale. She currently milks 2.9kgs of milk solids and sold to G & M Anderson of Yarroweyah who also snapped up equal second highest selling Grade Cow, a 5-year-old Aftershock daughter at $4,000.
Second highest sale went to Marungi Park Holsteins for Quality Ridge Aftershock Jane VG87, a 4-year-old due next Autumn. This buyer also acquired the recently classified VG heifer Quality Ridge Awesome Bonnie 803 for $8,000 and topped the Grade Cow price at $4,200 for a 5-year-old by AltaHulk miking 47 litres.
There was loud crowd praise for heifers sired by 1st Grade, selling to a top of $8,000 for an Appendix Three, 2-year-old Quality Ridge 1st Grade Willa, sold to R & T Attenborough of Poowong.
Grand daughter of former Semex Holstein Australia State On-Farm Winner (Leader Plum EX94-7E) Quality Ridge 1st Grade Plum VG on 1st lactation, sold for $6,400 to Hillco P/l of Cudgewa. The same buyer also purchased Quality Ridge 1st Grade Amya VG85 at $6,000, Quality Ridge Emperor Esme VG at 2 years for $5,000 and an outstanding commercial cow for $4,000.
Other noted sales include Quality Ridge Baltimor Alice EX for $6,200 to Krishlaye Holsteins of Nerrena and Westmuir Solomon Princess for $5,000 to A Wright of Bunyip.
Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report all cows presented in outstanding form as the herd was milking 35 litres daily.
