South Australians rejoice at centenary celebration
Last Friday marked the centenary celebration of the Holstein Australia South Australian Branch who have waited a year to host their commemoration.
The night was a tremendous success with an attendance of 114 invited guests, sponsors, past and current Holstein Australia members who enjoyed a night filled with nostalgia, fellowship and rekindled memories.
SA Sub-branch President and HA Board of Directors member Gino Pacitti says he was thrilled with the member response.
“Holsteins have played a large part in the lives of our members and many lifelong friendships and connections have been made” says Mr Pacitti.
The night included presentations for South Australian recipients of the Master Breeder award, All-Australian National Photographic competition and the Holstein Virtual Spectacular regional and national winners and placegetters of 2019/2020.
Holstein Australia CEO Rohan Butler says “it was great to see the success of such a strong branch finally being celebrated. I’d like to congratulate all the winners and say a special thanks to all the volunteers that made this event possible”.
Mr Brian Leslie of Pooley Bridge Holsteins, Vic submitted a captivating video presentation describing some of the history of the SA Holstein community and outlined the many influential cow families South Australian breeders had developed.
As part of the celebration, the “SA Centenary Challenge” On-Farm competition results were awarded. On-Farm judge Colin Daley from Ourway Holsteins, Qld says the quality of entries were exceptional.
“It was a fantastic night and many “tall” slightly exaggerated stories were exchanged and much laughter prevailed” says Mr Pacitti.
