Start Choosing Your Animals!
If you are a Holstein Australia member it’s time to start choosing which animals you are going to enter in this year’s STG Australia Virtual Holstein Spectacular with entries opening on Tuesday 15th March.
Choosing animals to enter
There are five classes, from 2-year-olds through to 6-year-olds and over, with a limit of two entries per class per entrant. Entry is open to registered animals and is free. Animals registered during the competition period can also be entered.
The STG Australia Virtual Holstein Spectacular Competition Rules have now been published and all entrants should familiarise themselves with these rules before entering up to a maximum of two animals per class.
Classes are as follows:
- 2 year old (Born after 1/7/2019)
- 3 year old (Born 1/7/2018 to 30/6/2019)
- 4 year old (Born 1/7/2017 to 30/6/2018)
- 5 year old (Born 1/7/2016 to 30/6/2017)
- 6 year old and over (Born on or before 30/6/2016)
Filming your animals
All that is required is an owner-filmed video of each cow entered. We’ve filmed an Example Video which you should take a look at, plus you can refer to our How To Film Your Animals guide.
Entering the competition
Holstein Australia will publish the competition entry website details on Tuesday 15th March on the HA website, via HA Sub-branches and in an email sent to all financial members. Competition entries open on Tuesday 15th March and close on Thursday 28th April.
Once you have chosen and filmed your animals the entry process is easy. Simply enter your HA membership number on the entry website and you will be able to select the animals you want to enter from the Herd book database, confirm DOB and number of lactations, attach your video and hit upload. That’s it!
Judging
Sub-branch, Regional and National judging will take place over the first two weeks of May. Like last year the National Finals Presentation will be streamed on the HA Facebook page, with a prize pool of $1,250 per class at National level.
Our national and regional judges will be announced during March. Each Sub-branch is selecting their own judge from our National Judges Panel.
All Sub-branches have the opportunity to hold their own competition, with the top two animals per class going through to the regional competition, and the top two per class from the regional competition going through to the national final. At regional and national level there are trophies for winners and placegetters, with cash prizes at national level.
Remember to keep an eye on your Facebook feed for more news about the STG Australia Virtual Holstein Spectacular over the next few weeks. Best of luck to all members entering the competition!
