Tomargo Recluse Master Breeder sale tops $14,000
The recent on-farm sale at Steve and Erika Chesworth’s Master Breeder Tomargo Recluse herd in Rawsonville, NSW saw 229 animals sold for an average of $4,220, with top price of $14,000 paid for the exceptionally uddered second-lactation Tomargo Recluse Bradnick Babydoll VG87. Backed by many generations of VG dams, she produced 11,124 litres at two years and was purchased by W & J Brown of Tamworth.
Attracting a large crowd of buyers on-farm from throughout NSW as well as online via the Elite Livestock Auctions platform, the offering was in milk young cows including 150 on their first lactation.
Second top of $9,100 was paid by Cameron Yarnold of Killawarra, NSW for Tomargo Recluse Croteau Apricot, a VG86 heifer by Unix from a VG89 Solomon dam bred from the famed Alison family.
Hunter Valley Breeders Michael Hassett and family selected several top lots including Tomargo Solomon Hilda, a 7th gen EX & VG three-year old at $7,000; Tomargo Recluse Elijah Felicity a VG 86 heifer at $6,500, and Tomargo Recluse Sunlight Susan backed by 3 VG dams at $6,000.
Three-year old Tomargo Recluse Bradict Dee VG87, milking 55 litres and from an EX91-3E Dictator dam with over 100,000 litres attracted a lot of attention before selling at sold $6,600 to Shannon Pastoral Co. of Numurkah, Victoria. Another impressive young cow, Tomargo Recluse Walnut Ally VG sold for $6,500.
Victorian breeder A Harrison, buying online, selected Tomargo Recluse Bradnick Helen, a 10th generation EX & VG 4 year old at $6,250. Ken and Margaret Atkins of Tamworth selected a fine group of young cows including Tomargo Recluse Bankroll Monique VG89 at $6,100 and Tomargo Recluse Wildman Becky EX90 at $6,000.
Nundah Pastoral Co. of Scotts Flat selected several top cows including the 13th generation VG five-year old, Tomargo Recluse Bradnick Countess at $6,100 and Tomargo Recluse Diamond Dandy, a correct 2 year old by Diamondback at $6,000.
Volume buyers of the day, including the purchase of the 11,144 litre young cow Tomargo Recluse Aftershock Aleta at $6,100, was T, N & R Coombes of Manilla.
Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report that fifty lots sold for $5,000 or more and that sixty-seven lots were purchased through the Elite Livestock Auctions platform. In total the 229 Holsteins sold grossed $966,300.
