Register your animals with ILR Online
Holstein Australia’s new online system to register animals is now live.
If you haven’t tried the new ILR Online system, contact Ally Bird at the Holstein Australia office who will set you up on the new platform.
Rohan Butler, Holstein Australia CEO, says that the new system is more intuitive than the previous online system and members can upload animal photographs when registering animals or retrospectively.
“A lot of work has gone into the new system to ensure it is simple to understand, easy to use and a fast and efficient way for members to register their animals. Up to five photographs can also be included for each registered animal, a facility requested by many members, which was successfully trialled during March and April.”
Key benefits of the new system

Simple and easy to use
Holstein Australia special projects officer, Ally Bird, has overseen the development of the new system and says that when members first log on, they will find the system easy to use and understand.
“A lot of work has gone into creating a simple, uncluttered interface with users able to register animals in just a few simple steps,” says Ally.
Once logged on, clicking on the ‘Animals’ tab at the top of the ILR Online page will enable members to view their registered, non-registered and pending animals.
“Pending animals are those where there is a query or unresolved issue. The most common reason for an animal to be listed as pending would be where the calving date held by the herd test centre doesn’t match our records.
“Pending animals can be selected and their details updated. Users can also put an animal ‘on hold’ during the registration process if they are missing any required information, moving it to the pending list with all information entered up to that point automatically saved,” says Ally.
How to register animals
Members can register animals in a number of ways.
By clicking on an existing registered animal’s name users can choose to ‘register progeny’.
Clicking the ‘Actions’ tab will enable users to enter the registration screen or view previously used sires and dams and complete the registration process from there.
“It really is that simple,” says Ally. “Users have access to all the information they need and none that they don’t, which is what makes the process so simple and straightforward.
“Another feature is that when a member disposes of an animal, whether registered or not, they can click on the animal’s name, hit the ‘Disposal’ button, and enter the disposal reason and date of disposal from a dropdown menu. It’s an easy and time efficient way to keep herd records up to date.”
Once animals are registered certificates are automatically printed in the Holstein Australia office and then sent to members. Invoices are automatically generated, and users can access all pending and previous transactions.
Including a photograph
“This couldn’t be simpler,” says Ally. “Users simply highlight the animal they want to include a photograph with, hit ‘Add Photo’, and select up to five images stored on their computer or phone. If members have a video of the animal online, this can also be added.
“This is probably the feature we’ve had the most requests for, and the most positive feedback on while testing the system.”
