Virtual Holstein Spectacular Winner Announcement

Tonight at 8pm Thursday 11 February national judge Brian Leslie will be announcing the national winners of the Semex-Holstein Australia Virtual Holstein Spectacular on our Facebook page. Video will be available on the HA YouTube channel tomorrow morning.

Thank you to the many members who entered this new competition, and to our Sub-branch and regional judges, listed below, who made the Virtual Holstein Spectacular possible.

The Semex-Holstein Australia Virtual Holstein Spectacular was created as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year the difficult decision was taken to cancel 20th anniversary Semex-Holstein Australia On-Farm Competition. This longstanding competition is such an important event for Holstein Australia Sub-Branches, their members and local communities. For 2020 it moved to an online format, with the Holstein community embracing it.

Since late December, via the Holstein Australia Facebook page, Virtual Holstein Spectacular Sub-branch and regional results have reached 103,000 people with over 21,000 video views, likes, comments and shares.

Tonight from the hundreds of entries received, the national champions in each class will be revealed by judge Brian Leslie – 90 finalists across 5 classes with 51 breeders represented.

As with the traditional on-farm competition, the Virtual Holstein Spectacular would not have been possible without the many hours put in by Sub-branches and judges. On behalf of Semex and Holstein Australia, very many thanks.

And congratulations to every Holstein Australia member who embraced this new competition, picked up a phone, and sent in a video of their animal.
