Wildwood Holsteins tops $6,500
Last week dairy farmers rallied from across Victoria to select from the high quality line up of spring calved cows and heifers at the Wildwood Second Stage Dispersal Sale.
The sale held at the Lardner Park Selling Centre saw 86 registered and commercial Holsteins gross $339,300 with a sale average of $3,945.
Topping the sale at $6,500 was the 6 year old wonderful uddered cow Dumbarton Dempsey Jane, bred from the famed NZ Romanac Jane family.
She sold to Krishlaye Holsteins of Nerrena who also selected the next top lot, Dumbarton Lambda Watsonia for $5,750. She is top young milking 2 year old by Delta Lambda from a Jett Air dam.
Tying with the second top lot at $5,750 was a high producing Dorcy 6 year old bred from the famed Avonlea Essie family, Debday Dorcy Essie.
She sold to Munden Farms of Nilma North who also took home Dumbarton Eric Mistress for $5,250.
Online bidder Royston Nettleton of Bairnsdale selected top young cows including a daughter of the top selling cow and Dumbarton Lambda Jane.
Both were outstanding 2 year old cows that went under the hammer at $5,500 each.
Belinda Harrison of Pound Creek also took home a few top young cows including Dumbarton Silver Wondrous, Silver from an Impression dam at $5,000.
Overall, Selling Agents Dairy Livestock Services report a solid sale outcome.
